Yearbook Orders DUE by Friday, March 7th

We are busy working on the yearbook. The cost this year will be $16. We will be happy to hold a copy for you for $5 or you can pay in full at this time. All orders are due by Friday, March 7th. Market Day Raised….

Thank you to the 12 customers that ordered Market Day this month! Today’s sale earned $60.10. We have raised $145.16 so far this school year! Thank you for your support!

Letter from the PTA Board

Welcome back to a new school year.
As members of the nation’s largest parent/teacher group, we would like to introduce or reintroduce you to our group. One of the best ways that you can support your child’s school is to become a PTA member. The Garfield PTA is made up of teachers, staff, parents and grandparents who care about children, your children, my children, Illinois children and children throughout the United States.
By paying the $5.00 dues, you become a member of a National parent organization. Our biggest accomplishment is fundraising for the many programs that enrich your child’s day at school. Our PTA raises money to support assemblies, field trips, family nights, Grandparents’ Breakfast, all-school picnic, classroom wish lists (books, rewards, software) and then classroom parties and the end-of-the-school-year lunches. The PTA also supplements school enrichment programs such as the spelling bee, band, the District read-in and books for the classrooms and the library. All of this would not be achieved if it weren’t for the support of our PTA members.
Please take a moment to join the Garfield PTA. Click here for a printable sign up form. Please send it along with cash or check made payable to Garfield PTA to school with your child. Remember any adult family member may join. The dues are $5.00 per person. As a thank you from the Garfield PTA, you will receive a Garfield school directory and special discounts throughout the year.

Keep the Box Tops coming!

Thank you to all families who have contributed so far to our Box Top collection program! We need them to keep rolling in!
Garfield School’s goal for the 2007-2008 school year is to earn $500 from the collection of Box Tops. If everyone at Garfield can: clip 2 Box Tops per month OR spend $4 per month at the Box Top Marketplace (www.boxtops4education.com) we could reach that goal (actually, if you want to get technical, the box tops collected now will be applied towards next year—just the way they do it)! It’s that easy!
If you don’t know what the Box Top Marketplace is, or want to be reminded of all the products that contain Box Tops, check out www.boxtops4education.com. There are also sweepstakes to enter to win bonus Box Tops—there is no purchase necessary to enter!
ALSO….print out coupons and recipes for your favorite products with Box Tops—Ziploc, General Mills, Pillsbury, Cottonelle, Betty Crocker, Yoplait and on and on!!! Imagine that, you can save money and raise money at the same time!

Don’t let elementary school memories go by the wayside, order your 2007-2008 yearbook now!
We are taking pre-orders for the yearbook. The cost of the yearbook will be $15. You can send a deposit of $5 or pay in full. Orders are due by Friday, February 29. Look for the order form in the Thursday packets or print a copy here.

Yearbook Messages

Do you want a fun way to send a personal message to your child? Maybe your child would like to send a message to his or her friends or even their teachers!
You may purchase message squares for as little as $4.00! Look for the message squares in your Thursday packet, or print a copy here and then click here for page 2.
Remember, buying a message square helps lower the cost of each yearbook. This also helps your child remember their school years!

Got Pictures?

We need your help! We are putting together the Garfield yearbook and are looking for pictures you may have taken throughout the year. If you have taken any pictures of your child or their classmates at school, class parties, field trips, the holiday play, etc. and you would like to pass them along for the yearbook, we would LOVE to have them.
Have your child bring them to school in an envelope marked “Yearbook” or drop them off in the office. Please note that pictures sent in will not be returned.
